Vision Start Director: Dr. Bruce Christensen

Dr. Christensen received his BS and OD from the Southern California College of Optometry. He has been in private practice general optometry, which specializes in children's vision, functional visual problems and vision therapy since 1978. In 1987 he founded the Vision Therapy Center in Battle Creek, Michigan of which he is the Director. Dr. Christensen is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) and founding member of Excel Vision Therapy and the Smart Schools Foundation.

Vision Start School Coordinator: David Sellers

David completed 30 years of teaching students with Battle Creek Public Schools. He has a masters degree in Elementary Education and currently works as a School Improvement Coach with Middle Start.

We know that great instruction helps students learn and we've also learned that improving the performance of the eyes is critical for achievement increases for many of our students who struggle with reading and comprehension. I taught a Vision Start class for students who struggled and was thrilled with the progress our students made. Best of all was seeing how excited the students were with the results they achieved. I'm thrilled about how Vision Start helps those students who need that little extra to improve their reading and achievement levels.
